Arthur Kaufman photograph collection [graphic], 1940-1955.

The images document Captain Kaufman's life as an Air Force pilot during the 1940's in Alaska and Europe. Some of the images may have been taken after he left the service. Images include the 73rd Bombing Squadron leaving Seattle, March 1941, snowshoeing, military aircraft and pilots, military life, airborne infantrymen, "Dottie" (airplane), Anchorage, Annette Island, Atka Island, Mt. Shishaldin, France, Switzerland. Kaufman captioned most of the images in the scrapbook and identified most individuals.

Arthur Kaufman was born in San Francisco June 10, 1919. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a pilot in the Aleutian Islands. After WWII, he attended the University of Geneva and learned to speak fluent French. Kaufman was a bachelor and spent most of his life in the military.
